I just signed up for a Twitter account, and after using it a bit and liking it immensely, tried it out on my iPhone using the free application Twitterific. It works fine and I immediately checked out Evan Williams (CEO of Twitter, who I follow on Twitter now) and read his blog, ironically, about how blogging seems to be dying and how improvements to the workflow could lead to a resurgence of activity. I tend to agree.
But, this begs the question - can Google leverage the power of Twitter (or vice versa) and come out with some hybrid of twitter/blogger that would allow for quick, easy, painless access and posting? I like twitter's limits on status updates, and I've quickly integrated it into my MySpace, Blogger and Facebook accounts. To say nothing else, it's extremely easy. I also saw that EV used an application called Tweety, and I decided, hell, if the CEO is using this iPhone app (available for $2.99, check out this link: http://www.atebits.com/tweetie-iphone/) then I may as well give it a shot. And I really do like it. The API these people have put out is ridiculously good, and it's such a nifty little social utility.
It doesn't succeed blogging, because it does have limited status updates - but what if I could just as easily blog (through my iPhone or other mediums) as I could tweet? And if my updates were all streamlined and integrated across, like Twitter works with Facebook's status updates? That would be impressive.
